I don’t know how many of you know this, but Amazon.com allows people to write their own “e-books” and then publish them online and the author and Amazon share the profits. One such book is titled the “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover’s Code of Conduct.” It is a how-to manual for pedophiles to “carefully” molest young children. The man who wrote the book, Phillip R. Greaves II, says that pedophiles are not actually bad people but misunderstood. He says that are a group of people called, “pedosexuals” and compares the mistreatment of this group of people to the plight of the Jews in World War II (which is absolutely DISGUSTING!)
I hope that what you are thinking at this point is “Oh my God, this is so offensive, Amazon better have pulled that book off it’s online market.” Yeah, they didn’t at first. A mother notified Amazon that this was an offensive book and it should be taken down. And Amazon’s owner responded and I quote, “[Amazon] believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable. Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchase.” It wasn’t until they had several thousand complaints and threat of boycotting that they pulled the book (though they still sell a book titled “Understanding Loved Boys and Boy Lovers” which is another book aimed at helping pedophiles.) Amazon didn’t pull the book until they were threatened with a boycott (I wouldn’t think a boycott would be so good for Christmas sales in a bad economy.)
So, not only do we have a man here who is writing books that promote sexually assaulting CHILDREN but Amazon said they were not going to “censor” the material. They treated this book as a right to free speech. My response to that is to get a GRIP on reality Amazon! It’s not like this was a group of people who wrote to Amazon and asked them to quit selling Harry Potter because it promotes a cult and teaches witch craft. This is not a group of people asking them to pull a book written by Ellen DeGeneres because she is a lesbian. This is not a group of people asking to have a book about Muslims or Christians or Jews to be taken off of the site because they hate religion.
This is a group of people asking that Amazon not sell a book teaching people how to perfect their trade of molesting young children. When the author of the book says that his purpose of writing the book was his “attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain [sic] rules for these adults to follow” and he thinks that there is nothing wrong with “kissing and fondling” kids, then I’m not sure that Amazon will ever have my business again.
Had Amazon conducted themselves in a more professional manner and promptly taken the book off the market then I would not have had a problem with their involvement in this. Had they followed their OWN policy prohibiting “offensive material”, as well as content that “may lead to the production of an illegal item or illegal activity” then I wouldn’t be angry at Amazon. But, the fact that this book and other how-to pedophile material is not considered deeply disturbing, but considered a First Amendment Right makes me wonder if the man running amazon was one of the MANY people who bought and more than likely plans to use the e-book (it’s frightening to me that there were actually people who bought it.)
Next up from Amazon.com:
- The Rapist’s guide to breaking and entering a woman’s home and raping her.
- The KKK’s guide to lynching African Americans.
- The Bully’s guide to beating up teens and making them jump off bridges.
- The Assassin’s guide to killing a president.
- The Wife Beater’s guide to perfecting the art of beating the shit out of his wife.
- The Animal Abuser’s guide to torturing puppies.
- The Timothy McVeigh Wannabe’s guide to blowing up federal buildings.
- The Terrorist’s guide to flying planes into buildings.
- The Sexual Harasser’s Guide to making women feel like dirt in the workplace.
I’m not even sorry to say this: if you fall in line with Amazon.com’s policy on not “censoring” this kind of material, then I don’t want to know you, be friends with you, and I definitely don’t want you around my children for fear that you might have been one of the sickos who bought & plan on using the book.
But, if you do agree with it, then I’m hoping it’s because you don’t yet have children and don’t understand that drive to protect your children from EVER being “kissed or fondled” by a sicko like this man says is okay to do with children. When you have a child, let me know if you think this is okay for free speech.

Wow… definitely a tough situation for Amazon. I think in the end they made the right decision for pulling the book from their page. Free speech is necessary in this country, but not when it infringes on the rights of innocent children.
That being said, I can't imagine how difficult it must be to have pedophile tendencies. I feel very sorry for anyone who has those kinds of urges. Not that they should ever act on them, but I can't imagine how hard it must be.
The author, however, sounds like a scumbag.

omg thats ridiculous I cannot believe they allowed this to go on!

I saw this on the news yesterday, it is totally disgusting! Makes me not even want to purchase from Amazon. I did hear though that they caved to pressure and have since pulled the book. I can only hope this is true!
Hello! I'm Kate. says
Yes the book has been pulled but there are other books that are sold that still teach how-to guides on how to molest children.

I didn't know anyone wrote books on that topic. To be honest isn't that like hanging a shingle on your door that says, "Hey FBI! Come stalk me until you can FINALLY put me in jail!"
Amazon must not have been paying attention to the original complaint thinking that it was just another hate group. Not a group of concerned mothers who have a VERY legitimate point. Free speech is important in this country but not at the expense of innocent children. Anyone who writes such a book should be locked up.
Welcome back!! I missed you!

I cannot even get my head around this. I keep hoping it's all a hoax. Because it has to be, right? It's just wrong on so many, many levels.
I have to change the subject.
I've missed you! So glad to you back!!

That is disgusting! I saw something on TV last night about Amazon but wasn't paying attention. I can't believe Amazon lets these things happen…I love shopping on amazon, but this is just gross! I am at a loss for words, why is pedophilia ever okay? Not sure why a book would be okay, especially when it is aimed at helping people further this disgusting act.
Welcome back!

Amazon should be ashamed of themself, it is unbelievably sick.

That is sick sick sick. I don't usually shop there, but I just bought something off there a couple weeks ago! Ugh, that will be the last, no thank you giving them my money. I can't believe this is the world that I am raising my kids in. Man, scary.

I'm right there with you. Freedom of Speech vs. protecting our children is a no-brainer! Some guy on twitter just told me I should leave America, since I support books being banned (which is a very unfair and untrue statement)… Needless to say, he has been blocked.

I was completely disgusted when I read this. The fact that someone would actually have the balls to write such a disgusting book is mind-blowing. I am really disturbed that Amazon defended their decision to sell the book even though it goes against it's own policy.
It is things like this that makes me so scared for my children.

Yeah he is disgusting! His pic was all over the internet yesterday b/c he was arrested for selling his book to Florida police officers. I don't think that anything will come from it because he lives in Colorado and they don't consider his book illegal. So…in order to get this guy in prison he is going to have to do something completely awful and I hope it never happens, for his potential victims' sake!
He is such a creepo! And his picture just gives you the creepy crawlies!!!

I am certain that all of you have the same sick feeling stiring in your bellies as I did when I heard this story (just a few minutes ago). The urge to vomit was almost uncontrolable. I am a HUGE supporter of free speech and anti-cencorship. However….REALLY??? This is not an issue of cencorship. This is an issue of being a highly disturbed individual and using the constitution to his sick advantage. I study the constitution often and trust me when I say THIS IS NOT WHAT OUR FOREFATHERS HAD IN MIND WHEN THEY TRIED TO ESTABLISH PROTECTION OF OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOM. This is a form of rape in itsself. It is violation of every child, parent and sane individual trying to keep our children safe. Ugh.

I was actually in jail in polk county as a trustee (for tresspassing) and had to cut the author’s hair. He was confined in a small cell right outside of my dorm. I asked him why he had wrote such a book and replied “I was mollested and like it. So, I thought there where kids out there that woul also.”
